December 01 Dinner report
A smaller crowd than I expected came out to The Tavern II last night for our dinner get together. We had 17 people come out. Too bad more couldn't have made it but I understand that people have other things to do.
The gal serving us did a pretty good job and the food was not bad. I heard a couple of comments that said the food was a little bland but otherwise I think most everyone enjoyed their meal. There was a lot of spirited conversations going on and everyone had a good time. It was good to see some of the people we don't see that often. Glad you came out.
We decided to sponsor a family again like we did last year for Christmas. Louise has already lined up a family of 4 for us to help out. We will be distributing a list here shortly of items this family would like for Christmas. None of the items are extravagant, just everyday items needed. If you can help out by providing something from this list that would be great. You can even get together with others to buy one item if you wish. That way it won't cost anyone much and we all know that everyone is having hard times in this current financial situation. Please give if you can. Last year it was very gratifying to see the family open their gifts and to see them be so thankful and appreciative. If you can't or don't want to help out, that is totally understandable.
Monday the 7th of December is our next meeting. This will be a business/dinner meeting. Not a large amount of business but some. Most importantly, the election of chapter director. If you want your voice heard, if you want to have a part in how this organization is run, then you need to come out and cast your vote. The more you get involved, the more fun you will have. The meeting will be at Bandana's BBQ at 4570 University Ave. in West Des Moines. Starting at 6:30.
One last thing before I wrap this up. I don't want to get into details as I don't know how much information people want shared right now but we have some people who are having some tough times right now. Please if you would, just keep all the members of this chapter and our guests in your thoughts and prayers. Positive thoughts would help them out immensely right now.
Thanks
Take care
Dennis
